All classes and support groups are free of charge. We can even provide transportation to and from class if you need. Just call ahead! Sorry, childcare is not provided, so you will need to make other arrangements for your children.

Getting Ahead – This class supports participants in growing a healthy family, improving knowledge and access to social services, building a personal support system, and improving life and job skills. Please call our office if you are interested in applying for this course. Up to 16 candidates will be selected for each workshop; a monthly stipend is provided to support participation. 
16-week workshop on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the WCA 

Empowerment – Provides women with the tools to change patterns of learned behaviors so that they can live empowered and emotionally healthy lives. Pre-registration and a 12-week commitment are required for this course. Please contact our office to find out when the next session begins.
12-week psycho-educational/skills group on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Foundations (in English) – Topics cover physical, emotional, financial, family, and sexual safety. Pre-registration is required, but this class is on-going and you can jump in at any time. Call our office to sign up.

Trauma Sensitive Yoga – Yoga specifically adapted to the needs of those who have experienced traumatic events with the gentle guidance from a specially trained instructor. Drop-ins welcome.
Meets Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the WCA

Sunlight Sisterhood (Alcoholics Anonymous) – AA meeting open to women facing any addiction. Drop-ins welcome.
Meets Thursday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the WCA

Resume Building Workshop – Participants will learn how to write effective resumes and cover letters. Call our office for more information.
Meets 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, one Thursday each month at the WCA

Financial Seminar – This program will help you to grow your financial skills. Develop and implement a plan to repair or enhance credit scores and learn how to create and maintain a budget with the long-term goal of building assets. Call our office to find out the dates of the next workshop.
Two-day workshop from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the WCA

Girl’s Leadership Academy – Workshops cover a variety of topics like: self-exploration, relationships, financial literacy, health and wellness, goal setting, career exploration and volunteering. Call our office to sign a girl up!
10-week program for girls in 5th and 6th grade

Mindfulness Meditation – Participants will learn techniques to help them through stressful moments and build skills for living a more purposeful life. Drop-ins welcome.

Men’s Non-Violence (in English) – Part of a community response to domestic violence. This group is not intended to be the sole means to ending domestic violence or to saving relationships or marriages. The purpose is to hold abusers accountable for their behavior, challenge their beliefs, teach them new skills to change their behavior, and to enhance the safety of victims, both children and adults. Pre-registration is required, but this class is on-going and you can jump in at any time. Call our office to sign up.
Once a week for 36 weeks. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the WCA

Back to Basics – Learn more about sexuality (topics include gender, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive anatomy, and more). There is also free HIV and STI testing from Nebraska AIDS Project and Planned Parenthood before class from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Participation in the class is not required to receive testing and vice versa. Drop-ins welcome.

Beyond Trauma: A Healing Journey for Women – Coming soon! This 12-week class provides an evidence-based curriculum designed to help women recover from the effects of trauma in their lives. Call our office to learn more.

Sexual Assault Support Group – Provides continued support for women who have been sexually assaulted. Drop-ins welcome.

Spanish Support Group – Provides continued support for women who are in, or have been in abusive relationships or have been sexually assaulted. Drop-ins welcome. Please call our office to get the location.

LGBTQ Trauma Support Group – Provides continued support for members of the LGBTQ community who have experienced trauma. Please call our office to find out location and time.

Heal. Support. Together. (Peer Support Group) – Coming soon! Facilitators are certified to provide peer support for clients affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault as well as military affiliated clients. Call our office to learn more.

 

Support Groups are facilitated by WCA staff and provide an opportunity to get to know other WCA clients with whom you may have a lot in common.
