What is Trauma Sensitive Yoga?
When a person experiences trauma, the memory of it is held not only in the mind but also in the body. Practicing Trauma Sensitive Yoga postures and breathing exercises helps to rewire pathways in the brain, decreasing the frequency and severity of trauma symptoms. Trauma Sensitive Yoga is yoga that is specially adapted to the needs of those who have experienced traumatic events, whether from a recent single episode or from long past childhood events. Through gentle guidance with specific dialogue about movement, breath and awareness in a supported environment one can feel truly safe, present and healthy in one’s own body.

Teri Beste, RYT Certified Wellness Coach
Teri has been bringing energy to others and teaching exercise for almost ten years. She completed her 200 RYT with Susi Amendola at Omaha Yoga & Bodywork Center. Teri’s classes give her students the tools to deal with everyday life by being present, breathing fully, and taking time to be still. Teri is also trained in Pulling Down the Moon’s Yoga for Fertility. Teri has completed a 40 hour trauma sensitive yoga training at Kripalu and teaches non-assist yoga.Teri is also a certified Wellness Coach and provides coaching and support for anyone looking to make healthy life changes. She received her certification from Real Balance Global Wellness Services.
Kendra McCallie, LIMHP, LCSW, RYT
Kendra is a psychotherapist in private practice and yoga teacher. Kendra has been a practitioner of yoga for almost 20 years and found it to be beneficial in her personal life. After becoming a yoga teacher she went on to receive her certification in Trauma Sensitive Yoga and utilizes this gentle approach with her clients in her private practice at The Omaha Yoga and Bodywork Center in the Mind Body Clinic.
